Drywall sector ■ Drywall Construction; Lightweight alternative with many advantages In drywall construction, industrially manufactured com- ponents are pre-assembled then fitted together. Mainly flat non-supporting elements are used. Classic elements of this lightweight design are plasterboard, frames and mineral wool insulation. Since, use of water-containing building materials such as mortar, clay or concrete are dispensed with, a large number of screws and nails are used. Drywall elements are used for room dividers, clad- ding components and for decorative features for ceilings and floors. Advantages over conventional construction ■ REYHER and drywall construction methods are not only lower dead weight, but also short- er assembly times, improved economic efficiency and higher flexibility as well as, in part, better fire protec- tion, sound and thermal insulation. Cable conduits are easily and quickly installed. In addition there is the absence of building moisture that occurs during con- struction of a solid wall. Fasteners for drywall construction Drywall screws Drywall screws are used for plasterboard, framework and wooden substructures. They correspond to fire class A1, making them non-combustible. Gypsum fibreboard screws are suitable for wooden substructures and metal frames with a maximum thickness of 0.6 mm thanks to their HiLo thread. The drill point design facilitates easy screwing and metal piercing through steel sheets up to 2.0 mm thick, without predrilling the steel. Milling ribs ensure a clean countersink of the head. There is no need to use an underlay for the batons. Technical information ■ CE markings for drywall construction Qualification of a product are based on the EU Construc- tion Products Regulation. In particular, drywall screws used for fixing plasterboard are manufactured, tested and approved with a CE mark These product regulations can be defined either by a harmonised European standard or in a European Techni- cal Approvals (ETA). Manufacturers of construction prod- ucts apply for an ETA if there is no or an insufficient harmonised European standard available. For mechanical fasteners in the drywall sector, the har- monised standard EN 14566 lays down the product re- quirements. in accordance with this standard.
